If you’ve watched TV in the last week, you were sure to come across this funny viral video from the Clark Retirement Community in which the residents dance, roll, sashay and embrace their way through a lipdup of Michael Bublé’s “Feelin’ Good.”
Lipdubs aren’t new. In fact, some might even go so far as to say that they are a bit cliche; but what Clark Retirement Community did was take an overused idea and make it fresh. Instead of hipster 20-somethings or Glee-inspired teenagers, Clark used its senior residents – and guess what – it totally works. It’s funny. It’s infectious. And it gives you a really good feel for the type of atmosphere Clark Retirement Community offers its residents. Heck, I want to move in!
The takeaway is this: just because an idea has been used doesn’t mean there’s not a fresh take on it. When your consumers expect a right turn, make a left.
